Campers will be immersed in the daily cycle of the farm as they discover the wonder of the natural world. From collecting eggs to learning about the animal families that make up a farm community to studying pond life, baking bread, making butter and ice cream and creating their own gardens. Campers will take a trip into our natural world to learn the science behind bees, bugs, ponds, animals and so much more. Students will learn the amazing contributions of various natural wonders as they study the science related to each one. Learning will extend beyond the classroom with a plethora of hands-on experiments that give campers a glimpse into the wonders that surround us. Campers will get dirty as they work in the mud kitchen and search for natural items that will be used to make art projects. Science says that playing in the dirt “lowers blood pressure, reduces stress and increases Vitamin D”. Mud pies anyone? Note: Participants should wear close toed shoes, sunscreen and old clothes. AAALC is putting the Culinary Arts in STEAM this summer. Have you ever heard the term "too pretty to eat"? Do you wonder how cake artists create such beautiful desserts? In the morning campers will join a local cake artist Candi Keene of Keene Cakes to learn the skills needed to create detailed masterpieces, bringing home sweet treats as they learn the decorating techniques associated with the use of each tool. They will let their imaginations run wild as they put their skills to the test and learn the various ways art can feed the body and the mind! In the afternoon, campers will learn to cook a variety of foods from appetizers to desserts. With a full kitchen on site, students will chop, peel, saute and create delicious treats. (There is an additional cost included in the camp fee to cover the extensive materials and supplies needed.) Please do not register for this camp if your child has food allergies that will be dangerous to participation. This camp is held OFF SITE at 8251 SW Citrus Blvd in Palm City.
