Campout & S’more! (Entering Grades VPK-6th) (CLOSED)

Campers will enjoy a week full of STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math as they study the sun, sky, land and sea! Campers will start their week engineering tents and forts, testing stability, building various camping apparatus and planning the "kitchen" chemistry needed to sustain as they "rough it" at AAALC. What kinds of things does one experience in the wilderness? Rock types, clouds in a jar, kite creations, water wheels, energy, bugs and much more... Our scientists will come home with more explorations to share with the family after this ride through the WILDerness!

Video Game Design (Entering Grades 1st-8th) (CLOSED)

Is your child interested in creating their own video games? Does your child have an imagination that can take them anywhere? Would you like them to be able to expand on their work after completing camp? Join AAALC for an incredible week that will continue long after it is over. Campers will use computer technology to build and design their own video games. Students are grouped by age level and provided with different formats in which to learn based on age. They will begin by creating characters and settings and will continue by telling their stories through a game board that is brought to life with technology, transforming learning from the paper and putting the final product into the hands of campers. The possibilities are endless!
Magic School Bus: Weather, Space & Solar System (Entering Grades 1st-6th) (CLOSED)

Campers will look up to the sky as they jump on the Magic School Bus with us to learn about weather, space and our solar system. Hands on experiments including edible aquifers, homemade thermometers, weathering, erosion, precipitation and surprises related to space and the solar system will challenge them. They will experience the thrill of being a meteorologist as they create a produce a weather report using AAALC’s green screen technology as they rise to the challenge to better understand the impacts of weather and space on our world.

Learn to Draw Anime (Entering Grades 4th-8th)  (CLOSED)

Artists attending will learn how to draw original Anime characters from simple templates, adding proportions to the face and features. They will experiment with variations of heads and learn how to draw hair on male and female characters. A study in proportions for the body of the character, adding clothes, props and backgrounds, will create a finished product. The use of color will be included and provide final renderings for students to take home and keep. The skills learned in this camp will provide a foundation for future independent work at home.

Cake Decorating Course (Entering Grades 4th to 8th) (CLOSED)

AAALC is putting the Arts in STEAM this summer. Have you ever heard the term "too pretty to eat"? Do you wonder how cake artists create such beautiful desserts? Campers will join a local cake artist Candi Keene of Keene Cakes to learn the skills needed to create detailed masterpieces, bringing home sweet treats as they learn the decorating techniques associated with the use of each tool. They will let their imaginations run wild as they put their skills to the test and learn the various ways art can feed the body and the mind! (There is an additional cost included in the camp fee to cover the extensive materials and supplies needed.)
