Category: Summer Camp

Science Sleuths (Entering Grades VPK-6th) (CLOSED)

Does your child love Science and Engineering? Does she love to build? Does he have an endless imagination? Mad scientists will explore different aspects of science as they become familiar with the science in their everyday world. Through aerodynamics they will experiment with a variety of flight challenges. They will learn how physics can be fun as they build roller coaster designs and marble mazes. An understanding of how mixtures create shocking results will be developed as they study chemistry through erupting volcanoes, baking soda rockets and more. Campers will become familiar with the critical role robotics plays in their world as they use LEGO robotics kits to design and program bots to complete simple tasks and solve real-world problems. Campers will wrap up the week of fun exploring gooey, ooey, icky creations and more.

Young Animators (Entering Grades 1st-6th) (CLOSED)

In this camp students will learn about their favorite elements of the cartoon world – movies, parts of the story, songs and characters – and bring them to life through drawing! Students will work at their own pace to follow instructions to develop art skills as they learn to draw characters like Disney, Looney Tunes, Pokemon, Pixar and more.

Video Game Design (Entering Grades 1st-8th) (CLOSED)

Is your child interested in creating their own video games? Does your child have an imagination that can take them anywhere? Would you like them to be able to expand on their work after completing camp? Join AAALC for an incredible week that will continue long after it is over. Campers will use computer technology to build and design their own video games. Students are grouped by age level and provided with different formats in which to learn based on age. They will begin by creating characters and settings and will continue by telling their stories through a game board that is brought to life with technology, transforming learning from the paper and putting the final product into the hands of campers. The possibilities are endless!

Array of Arts & Crafts (Entering Grades 1st-8th)

Participating campers learn how to make soap, jewelry, bath bombs, pillows, dreamcatchers, cards, paper and much more as they discover the beauty of working with their hands to create unique things. Campers will take home their final projects to share with family and friends.

Cake Decorating Course (Entering Grades 4th to 8th) 9am-12pm only (CLOSED)

AAALC is putting the Arts in STEAM this summer. Have you ever heard the term "too pretty to eat"? Do you wonder how cake artists create such beautiful desserts? Campers will join a local cake artist Candi Keene of Keene Cakes to learn the skills needed to create detailed masterpieces, bringing home sweet treats as they learn the decorating techniques associated with the use of each tool. They will let their imaginations run wild as they put their skills to the test and learn the various ways art can feed the body and the mind! (There is an additional cost included in the camp fee to cover the extensive materials and supplies needed.)

Pioneer Days: Survival Science (Entering Grades 1st – 8th) (CLOSED)
(OFF SITE PALM CITY LOCATION)

It will be survival of the fittest this week! Do you know how to make a water compass, a hand warmer or a solar oven? Do you have the skills it takes to survive in the toughest of situations using only your knowledge of science and materials around you in nature? Get ready to harness the power of nature as you discover how to make clean drinking water through science that engineers around the world use each day. Interact with a variety of animals and become one with nature! This camp is held OFF SITE at a large farm located in Palm City. The address and drop off details will be provided to registered campers by March 30 via email.
