Fall 2020 Direct Teacher Support for Temporary Virtual Instruction

As local decisions for online virtual education are finalized, AAALC is offering small group classes from 2:30pm-6:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for Direct Teacher Support for Virtual Instruction program. This program will begin August 17. Virtual education requires disciplined, independent participation by students and significant parental support. This is difficult to balance while trying to work from home.

Should parents choose an online option for their child, AAALC will be providing instruction and support for parents/children who are working on a virtual platform via an in person certified teacher on our site. Students may attend the program in person four afternoons per week to complete school work assigned by their classroom teacher. They will receive additional tutoring and practice on areas in which they may struggle or need to be challenged as needed.

Overview:
  • Registration is completed for 4 week periods. This program will only continue as long as Virtual Education continues in Martin County.
  • Certified teachers will be assigned to groups of less than 9 students based on grade level/skills.
  • Students may come as needed or may attend every afternoon from 2:30pm-6:00pm.
  • There are a very limited number of spots for each group/grade level. Attendance each afternoon isn't mandatory but membership cannot be prorated based on attendance.
  • This program will end when all schools reopen for full time live instruction.
  • Middle/High School Math and Language Arts Teachers, as well as other instructors who can also assist with upper level courses and academic needs, will be available in different rooms to provide support with specific subject matter.
  • Grades K-5 will be placed in individual rooms with groups of 9 or less and an instructor. They will be grouped by grade level to receive support and assistance in specific areas.
  • Though certified teachers on site will support learning and provide additional resources for participants, this program is meant to support work assigned by classroom teachers for those children attending school virtually.
  • The charges for this program encompass 4 weeks of instruction and covers approximately 56 hours of class time. Registration is available on a month by month basis at this time and will continue as we continue to monitor school openings. (Direct Teacher Support for Temporary Virtual Instruction Registration)
  • The program will not be in session on Fridays or non-school days.
  • Additional program registration options are available for students taking middle/high school courses via an online platform not provided by the local school district who need direct teacher support with full year/full time or flex programs. Contact the office for specific information regarding the individual needs of a student.
1:1 Tutoring, Small Group Instruction and other options for online support are  available. For information Contact Us.
