About the Instructor: Nathan Rumbley
Nathan, a native Floridian, was born and raised in the Orlando area. He began taking formal lessons at the age of 14 where he studied under Prof. Keiko Onuki Andrews from Rollins College Community Ed Program. From that point on, Nathan accelerated in his musical development in every aspect at what most people would consider, a supernatural rate. Throughout High School, Nathan went on to perform regularly, enter and win piano competitions (competing and winning against college student music majors when he was just 15), being accepted into the Dr. Phillips H.S. Magnet Program for Visual & Performing Arts, accompanying multiple choir classes throughout high school as well as other instrumentalists for Solo & Ensemble and State Festivals, and receiving all Superior ratings himself in every event attended as well as winning talent shows. During his college years, Nathan majored in Piano Performance at Seminole State College in Sanford, FL under the direction of Dr. Kristie Borne and was later on accepted into the private studio of internationally acclaimed, Steinway sponsored artist, and world renown concert pianist, Prof. Laurent Boukobza, in whom was the Director of Music and Chair of Piano Studies for the University of Central Florida. During his first year in college, Nathan was given an incredible opportunity to teach beginner class piano for the schools Community Ed and Local Outreach Program. This new opportunity opened Nathan’s eyes to a passion and career in music that he had never considered before. Nathan has taught professionally for over 15 years at different schools and piano studio During this time, Nathan was asked to assist in opening the Orlando School of Music, a branch of the Avalon School of Music. Since then, Avalon School of Music has grown to 5 locations, teaches more than 35,000 lessons per year, and is currently the largest school of private lessons in the Central Florida area! After marrying his beautiful wife Jennifer, Nathan relocated to the Treasure Coast area and opened his own music company, The Musical Advantage. Nathan is currently teaching in-home and traveling piano lessons throughout the Treasure Coast area, is the accompanist and Assistant Musical Director for the Voices of Parkinson’s in Palm Beach Gardens.
