Oh the Places You’ll Go With STEAM In Tow!
(Entering VPK/K)

Young scientists will be out on the loose as they explore the wild world of Dr. Seuss!

Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) will take campers down an incredible path.

Stack the cat’s hat and engineer a zoo, these STEM activities will stump just a few.

Apples, butter, green eggs and ham; make and create them. They aren’t just for Sam!

Yertle the Turtle, Blue Fish and more….you never know what lessons might be in store.

Take a car, bike or train; or just come on two feet. You can’t find this camp on Mulberry Street.

Cake Decorating
(Entering 3rd-8th grade)

Cake Decorating will be offered for half day for different age groups. Incoming 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders will meet from 9:00am-12:00pm and 5th through 8th graders will meet from 12:30pm-3:30pm. There is an additional cost to cover the extensive materials/supplies needed for each program. Instruction and projects will be adjusted to the age and abilities of the campers.

AAALC is putting the Arts in STEAM this summer. Have you ever heard the term "too pretty to eat"? Do you wonder how cake artists create such beautiful desserts? Campers will join a local cake artist to learn the skills needed to create detailed masterpieces, bringing home sweet treats as they learn the decorating techniques associated with the use of each tool. They will let their imaginations run wild as they put their skills to the test and learn the various ways art can feed the body and the mind!

Stop Motion Movie Making
(Entering 3rd-8th grade)

Get ready to direct your very own stop motion animated movie. Writers, directors and producers, ages 8 and up, will produce their own movie by:

·         writing a script
·         creating a storyboard
·         developing characters
·         filming
·         editing

Stop Motion is an animation technique in which students create movies using different objects or characters. Students take a series of still photos, moving their characters based on the script and storyboard they created. The photos are put together and played, adding sound and special effects, to create a moving film. Students are paired to work in teams and create their own movie from start to finish.

Movie Making is one of the most complex and involved processes students can complete. From idea to movie involves brainstorming, planning, storyboard, writing, illustration, digital animation, editing, sound and more! AAALC will show your young producer, director and writer how movies are made from start to finish. Better yet, let them complete their own movie! Campers will use clay, Legos or other materials to create characters and design backdrops, ultimately producing their own animated movie.

STEAM Buffet (CLOSED)

(Entering 1st – 7th grade)

It’s all hands on deck as campers enter the wondrous world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math! This camp will be filled with explosive, hands on STEAM experiments that cover each of the core areas of STEAM. Campers will have a variety of experiments to choose from each day and will be provided time and materials to dive deep into whatever interests them most. They can work in groups or alone but will experience and enjoy the magic of STEAM. This structured but unstructured setting will allow each camper time to explore his/her own mind and examine whatever excites them most!

Golf World: Swing Into STEAM (Location: 76 Golf World)
(Entering 1st- 7th grade)

AAALC and 76 Golf World are teaming up to offer a one of a kind summer camp experience. Campers will spend the week at 76 Golf World exploring the science behind Golf, Go Karts, Krazy Kars, Gyro Extreme, Shooting Hoops and other Adventure Attractions located at this popular Martin County attraction. Half the day will be spent in the amazing upstairs party room/classroom, learning the science behind these fun activities, while the other half will be spent experiencing and experimenting with what they have learned. Not only can you play pinball but you can build a game as well! What is the difference between kinetic, potential and thermal energy and why does it matter in golf? Campers will be taught and supervised by certified teachers and will participate in a variety of science, technology, engineering and math activities prior, during and after participation in on site attractions.
