2018-2019 Homeschool Parent Information Meeting

AAALC currently offers a full time homeschool education program to a limited number of students. The program consists of small groups of 2-8 children who work on grade level standards, receiving direct instruction, individual assistance, experience based programming and project based learning. Students are taught by certified teachers and rotate through three to four instructors by subject area. Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies and Arts courses are included in the program with a focus on STEAM programming. To receive detailed program information pertaining to the 2018-2019 School Year, parents are invited to attend an Information Session scheduled for April 26, 2018 from 6:00pm-7:30pm. Parents wishing to attend are required to register via link above. 
 
General Program Information
Note: The information below is based on the 2017-2018 School Year. Schedules, teachers, curriculum and other program specific details are subject to change for 2018-2019 School Year programs.
 

Schedules:

  • Between 8:15am-1:30pm 
  • Monday-Thursday  
  • Public School Calendar
  • Bring Lunch Daily
  • Trips/Excursions (STEAM on the Road)
    (2017-2018 Educational STEAM on the Road included: Kennedy Space Center, Bok Tower Gardens, Palm Beach Zoo Program, Downtown Stuart Historical Tour, Castronovo Chocolate Tour and Lesson, Wonderworks, Farm Interactions and more.)

Planning/Curriculum:

  • Review of assessment data by teacher
  • Assessment Administration
  • Teacher chosen curriculum based on grade level expectations
  • Use of AAALC technology, supplies and curriculum
  • Lesson Notes/Homework provided weekly 
  • Additional 2018-2019 Full Day Programs may include programs such as Debate with George Washington University Debate Coach Paul Hayes, 4H Curriculum, Junior Achievement, Junior Master Gardener Certification and more.
  • AAALC additional Homeschool STEAM Classes Available    Example: 2017-2018 Homeschool STEAM Courses
  • Teachers will provide work samples, binder and adequate reporting to parents as required by the state of Florida.

Parent/Student Needs

  • Register as Homeschool Student 
  • Gardiner is currently accepted and approved.
    AAALC Board decision for McKay acceptance is pending.
  • Sign AAALC Agreement/Student Learning Plan
  • Program Deposit and Curriculum Purchase Cost
  • Attend Homeschool Parent Meeting 

Documentation/Reporting

  • Students may take the FSA Assessment at their public school during test windows (Parent Discretion)
  • Students may take the Terra Nova on site AAALC (Parent Discretion)
  • Students will receive a binder with work samples and adequate reporting as required by the state of Florida.
  • Parents will be responsible for storing the binder once the year is complete.
