Category: Summer Camp

Robotics/Coding  (CLOSED)
(Entering 1st-8th Grade)

Robotics and coding are becoming critical parts of the lives of today's youth. Youth are being prepared for jobs that don't yet exist and need to be prepared to think, create and inspire! Robotics builds science, technology, engineering and math skills, providing students with real world experiences, which provides practice critically thinking about problems and solutions while developing programming skills and team building. AAALC robotics rograms begin as young as kindergarten and encourage students to continue through high school and beyond.

Robotics is a program provided based on the age and skill of the campers. It uses Vex, EV3 and Lego Education WeDo™ materials to provide  lessons incorporating science, technology, engineering, and math. Students work together in small groups to build and program various levels of robots. From building working models of alligators, ferris wheels, drumming monkeys and more to building and coding more complex creations.

Once programmed, students use the model for different purposes, experimenting with programming techniques. These educational opportunities encourage students to develop broader communication and language skills through cross curricular projects.

Junior Jedi Training: (CLOSED)
May the Force Be With You
(Entering 1st-8th Grade)

Join your fellow Padawans as they embark on a journey far far off in the Galaxy training to become a Jedi.  Each day campers will be challenged to complete Star War, the Last Jedi VI, inspired missions that will earn them Jedi status. Padawans will design and build their own lightsabers to complete a mission. They will design and build a BB-8 or R2D2 robot and dozens of other creative theme based projects.

Chaotic Chemistry (CLOSED)
(Entering 1st-8th Grade)

Is your child a slime connoisseur? Does he know how to grow crystal spikes or make flubber? Can she create a bouncing ball or pull iron out of real cereal? Young chemists will jump into the fascinating world substances. Campers will identify substances of which matter is composed, investigate their properties and the ways in which they interact, combine and change, and use the processes to form new substances. You never know what they’ll bring home each day!
