Category: PreK/K STEAM Classes

Is your child innovative and curious? Does she like to learn by creating and analyzing? Does he enjoy building and experimenting? Join the fabulous Mrs. Roland who will lead AAALC's Pint Sized Scientists. These young engineers will learn literacy and math skills through the integration of S.T.E.A.M. programs.

AAALC is now offering a class that will meet once per week in the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018. This class will develop cognitive, social, emotional, physical and language/communication skills in children ages 4 - 5 during the 2017-2018 school year. Utilizing Florida's Early Learning and Development Standards (Birth to Five), these ten students will work with a certified teacher to actively engage in learning reading, writing and math skills through science, technology, engineering, arts and math.

Classes will meet once per week from 2:30pm-4:00pm Tuesdays. Only ten children will be participating in the program. The program will begin October 24 and will end December 19 and is open to children ages 4 and 5 on or before October 1. An additional Spring Session will be added for registration in December. Due to the limited capacity of this class, a waiting list will be available. If registration is closed and you would like your child placed on a waiting list, please contact the office at 772-341-1400.

Class Topics will vary and be STEAM-Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math related. Two examples of previous sessions are below.

Oh the Places You’ll Go With STEAM In Tow!

Young scientists will be out on the loose as they explore the wild world of Dr. Seuss!
Science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) will take campers down an incredible path.
Stack the cat’s hat and engineer a zoo, these STEAM activities will stump just a few.
Apples, butter, green eggs and ham; make and create them. They aren’t just for Sam!
Yertle the Turtle, Blue Fish and more….you never know what lessons might be in store.
Take a car, bike or train; or just come on two feet. You can’t find this camp on Mulberry Street.

(PreK/K) Our Community: Beyond My Backyard

Young scientists will explore the incredible resources within their own community, learning about the benefits, challenges and opportunities that exist right where they live. Beyond My Backyard will allow campers to learn about our local waterways, ecosystems, governments, resources and other things necessary to build and sustain a community. Through engineering, exploration and yes...even some explosions....students will recreate, solve and discover!

Please Note: Children will learn around themes that will include various hands on activities. These themes will introduce them to new and exciting experiences.
