Minecraft Engineering Challenge  (CLOSED)

Ages 7-13        Mondays        September 12, 19, 26 October 10              $55

Minecraft meets S.T.E.A.M. as students are challenged to create items based on the popular Minecraft game. Participants will be challenged to design and capture a Creeper, build a block tower and Minecraft blocks, create an animal pen and much more. These S.T.E.A.M. engineering activities will utilize Minecraft to engage children through project based learning.

Extinct Animals (CLOSED)

Ages 6-12        Mondays         October 17, 24   November 7, 14              $55

This class brings Extinct Animals back to life through an in depth study of the science related to their extinction. Participants will learn to extract DNA from animal products such as chicken eggs. They will study the path from population to extinction and the variety of causes, both human and environmental, for animals like the Dodo, the Chinese River Dolphin, Golden Toad, Zanzibar Leopard, Po'ouli, Tecopa Pupfish and more.

The Polar Express: Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead

Ages 7-13        Mondays        November 21, 28 December 5, 12              $55

It's full S.T.E.A.M. ahead as we board The Polar Express! Can participants make it to the North Pole by completing various related science, technology, engineering and math challenges? Students will have to make a bell, study gravity in order to fly, build a bridge for the train, design a toy and create a gift box. Will they be able to handle the journey and it's challenges to share hot chocolate and cookies with Santa? We shall see....

Orienteering
Ages 7-13       Mondays          January 9, 23, 30 February 6                   $55

It's a race to the finish! Participants will learn to read a map and compass in order to compete against each other to see who can complete a course designed to confuse and delight. Checkpoints, topographical maps and compasses will be an important part of learning how to get from Point A to Point B!

Leonardo da Vinci: The Renaissance Man-Inventions, Artist & Scientist
Ages 8-13       Mondays     February 13, 27  March 6, 20                       $55

Leonardo da Vinci was not "just" a painter. He was a man of many talents. Students will learn how to build an Ornithopter from household items, create the Mona Lisa in a new and different way and understand the various hidden talents Leonardo had that helped change the world!

Stop Motion Movie Making
Ages 9-15       Mondays     March 27 April 3, 10, 17, 24  May 1            $78

Participants will become writers, producers, directors and editors as they make a Stop Motion Movie from idea to final product finishing the course with a premier for parents and siblings to enjoy. The brainstorming, writing, artistic creation, technology, engineering and communication involved in these amazing final products is a sight to see!
