Homeschool Course Descriptions

All Homeschool Classes occur once per week for four weeks. The course fee covers the entire course. Parents are encouraged to drop their child off for the class. Courses are taught by certified teachers who homeschool or have multiple experiences teaching homeschool students. All courses include materials and supplies. Class sizes will be limited. Class registration will be closed once each class has met maximum capacity. Please call the office at 341-1400 to be placed on a Wait List if a course is closed.

Motors, Motor and more Motors!
Ages 8-13           Mondays          January 11, 25   February 1, 8                 12:30pm - 2:00pm              

Students will learn how motors work, take apart and assemble various motorized objects, create circuits and finally build their own motor. These hands on lessons will have students learning how motors use magnets to create motion through research, observation, inquiry and creation!

Biodomes
Ages 6-12           Mondays             February 22, 29   March 7, 21                12:30pm - 2:00pm                
 
Students will explore the biosphere's ecosystems, learning how plants, animals and resources interact with the cycles of our planets. Students will build and take home various biospheres. Recyclable materials will be requested to create some of the projects.

 

Erosion
Ages 7-13           Mondays             April 4, 11, 18, 25                                  12:30pm - 2:00pm                   

Students will use an erosion table and create 3D building that will be used to simulate various water conditions that result in flooding and erosion. They will become civil engineers, solving problems associated with water flow, building design and structure placement to create solutions to common issues created by laminar and turbulent water flow over the soil.

Medieval Life
Ages 7-13           Mondays             May 2, 9, 16, 23                                    12:30pm - 2:00pm                   

Students will explore life in the Middle Ages through an interactive literature study and hands on lessons that will catapult them into castles, knights, nobility, professions and even clothing! Join us as we take our young damsels and knights on a medieval adventure!
