~~SPLASH ZONE
Ages 6-11 Location: Bridges Montessori School
Ages 6-11 Location: Bridges Montessori School
Surf's Up! Campers will splash into the ocean with a study of the deep sea, discovering how plants and animals survive changing tides. Students will engineer solutions to specific coastal problems and create models to explain process of sand dune migration, animal habitat destruction and more! They will protect a "town" from sand dune migration and complete science experiments that encourage understanding of changes in physical properties of ingredients in solutions. Their study of the oceans and related topics will take them around the world with various technology activities that will introduce each student to the commotion in the ocean!
~~GOOGLE EARTH (CAMP-CAMP IS FULL)
Ages 6-11 Location: Bridges Montessori School
Travel the world with us as we explore Google Earth! Students will complete a Scavenger Hunt to find famous places all over the globe. Campers will visit Pompeii and discover the volcano that destroyed a town, partnering to build an "erupting" volcano and learn the effects of this type of event on the surrounding area. Where is the Leaning Tower of Pisa? Become a structural engineer and create a tower that can withstand different weights and forces. Where do earthquakes occur? Can you create a model town and simulate the effects of landslides and earthquakes on the community? Technology will be heavily infused into this camp experience as students explore different parts of the world and then work together to create various models and methods for solving problems or recreating events. Oh the places we'll go....
~~MINECRAFT EDUCATION: WATER CHALLENGE (CLOSED-CAMP IS FULL)
Ages 7-13 Location: Bridges Montessori School
Minecraft Education uses the popular game to provide an academic setting for students. Centering around themes, each camp will provide students with the opportunity to utilize a variety of reading, writing, listening, speaking, technology, social studies, math and science skills to work together toward an objective or goal.
This enclosed area contains only a single water source. With few resources for food available, participants must set up a farming operation and feed themselves. To do so they must creatively transport, conserve and build around a limited supply.

~~WEEBOTS ROBOTICS (CLOSED-CAMP IS FULL)
Ages 6 - 10 Location: Bridges Montessori School
Robotics build science, technology, engineering and math skills and provides students with real world experiences, allowing them to critically think about problems and solutions while developing programming skills and team building. AAALC robotics rograms begin as young as kindergarten and encourage students to continue through high school and beyond.
Weebots Robotics is a program uses Lego Education WeDo™ materials to provide lessons incorporating science, technology, engineering, and math. Provided as stand alone classes, camps or seven week courses, students work together in small groups to build and program working models of alligators, ferris wheels, drumming monkeys and more. Once programmed, students use the model for different purposes, experimenting with programming techniques. These educational opportunities encourage students to develop broader communication and language skills through cross curricular projects.
