Scout Troop Program Options

2018-2019 Girl Scout Events

Girl Scouts: Mechanical Engineering                                                            Sat, Oct 20, 2018, 9:15am-1:15pm

This half day event is open to Girl Scouts of all ages. Certified teachers will work with the girls on three Mechanical Engineering Badges related to their Girl Scout Troop level. A lunch of pizza, drinks, salad and dessert will be included. This is a drop off event. Daisies, Brownies and Juniors will earn three Mechanical Engineering Badges after meeting each of the requirements for the badges. Daisies: Board Game Design, Roller Coaster Design & Model Car Design. Brownies: Fling Flyer Challenge, Leap Bot Design & Race Car Design. Juniors will complete the Paddle Boat Design Challenge, Balloon Car Design Challenge and Crane Design Challenge. Badges will need to be provided by the troop leader or purchased by the participant.

Girl Scouts: Electrifying Elections                                                                Thurs, Nov 1, 2018, 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM

Participants will explore our local, state and national elections and begin to understand the importance of actively participating in their community. Activities will include a discussion of local, state and national issues and how elected officials work to effect change. The girls will meet some very special elected officials and candidates and learn how to celebrate their community, understand government and find common ground! This program will be completed as a joint class and then consist of breakout groups for Daisies, Brownies, Junior, Cadettes and Seniors. Please Note: No political party or candidate promotion will occur during these sessions. Badges will need to be provided by the troop leader or purchased by the participant.

Girl Scouts: Shop Til You Drop                                                                     Fri, Dec 14, 2018, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

Participants will be prepared for the holiday season as they learn how to make wise choices and comparison shop. How much money can we save by utilizing common sense, technology and some detective work? 

Girl Scouts: Digital Media                                                                             Fri, Dec 14, 2018, 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM

Participants will work on several exciting activities related to digital photography and digital arts. They will utilize various forms of technology to photograph, create and design!  Brownie: Computer Expert, Junior: Digital Photographer & Cadette: Digital Movie Maker

Girl Scouts: Robotics Badges & Women in Science Event                     Sat, Jan 12, 2019, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

This half day event is open to Girl Scouts of all ages. We will be joined by several women who have entered STEM fields and will participate in a variety of hands on activities related to the contributions of women in the field of science. A lunch of pizza, drinks, salad and dessert will be included. This is a drop off event. Girls will receive a Make Your Own Women in Science Badge and earn three Robotics Badges. Robotics Badges will need to be provided by the troop leader or purchased by the participant. Daisies: What Robots Do, How Robots Move & Design A Robot. Brownies & Juniors: Programming Robots, Designing Robots & Showcasing Robots.

Girl Scouts: Fragrant or Foul?                                                                            Thurs, March 7, 6:00 pm to 7:45 pm

Participants will learn about the world around them. Juniors will learn the science and beauty of flowers while Brownies will study the bugs that love them! These girls will receive a visit from a very special beekeeper and begin to understand why some of the most beautiful, and some of the most “icky”, things in life are very important to our environment. Badges will need to be provided by the troop leader or purchased by the participant.

Girl Scouts: Junior Detective/Cadette Special Agent                                     Thurs, March 7, 6:00pm-7:45pm

This program is open to any registered Girl Scout. Participating Girl Scouts will examine fingerprints, extract DNA, observe "blood" splatter and solve a "crime", all while earning the Junior Detective Badge or the Cadette Special Agent Badge. Often, special visitors will join us to share their knowledge with participants so be on the lookout during this very special event. Badges will need to be provided by the troop leader or purchased by the participant.

Individual Troop Options

All About Achieving Learning Centers provides a certified teacher at our facility to complete the activities and requirements for various Scout STEAM badges. The cost is $14 per child for one troop. Two troops will receive a reduced rate of $12 per child for each badge class. The instructor, as well as all materials and supplies, are included in the total cost. Badges are not included in the cost. Individual troops can schedule by calling 772-341-1400. No refunds for absences can be issued more than one week prior to class due to materials and prep cost.

PLEASE NOTE: Troops that wish to commit to participating in a troop robotics team may sign up via the FLL or JRFLL through this link. Please review the requirements to register under this option prior to registering. Once the form is received, AAALC will contact troops for a complete list of participants. Participation will complete several badge requirements for team members to receive badges.
