SUMMARY:July 11-15 Robotics/Coding\, Sensory Science\, STEAM Buffet\, 3D Design/Print and Farm to Table
DESCRIPTION:Robotics/Coding (Entering Grades VPK-8th) (CLOSED)\n\nRobotics and coding are becoming critical parts of the lives of today's youth. Youth are being prepared for jobs that don't yet exist and need to be able to think\, create and inspire! Robotics builds science\, technology\, engineering and math skills\, providing students with real world experiences. Campers will practice thinking critically about problems and solutions while developing programming skills and team building. AAALC robotics programs begin as young as kindergarten and encourage students to continue through high school and beyond. Robotics is a program provided based on the age and skill of the campers. It uses Spike Prime\, EV3 and Lego Education WeDo™ materials to provide lessons incorporating scratch based coding and basic programming. Students work together in small groups to build and program various levels of robots\, from working models of alligators\, ferris wheels\, drumming monkeys and more\, to building and coding more complex creations. Students use the model for different purposes\, experimenting with various programming techniques. These educational opportunities encourage students to develop broader communication and language skills through cross curricular projects.\n\nCome to Your Senses: Sensory Science! (Entering Grades VPK-3rd)(CLOSED)\n\nSee\, hear\, taste\, smell and touch the science around you! Feel the noise\, test your taste buds and feel slime balls as you discover the STEAM behind the five senses. Has your child every used Lil’ Bits? Do they know how to build circuits and create unique designs that “light up” the imagination? Can your camper engineer and provide light a home? Can your child repair broken toys and create a circuit game similar to Operation? Campers will invent\, design and experiment with energizing projects that challenge them to solve real world problems using their sense of sight\, touch and hearing. Your senses have helped you to discover the world. Now it’s time to spend a week discovering how they work and the magic behind each one!\n\nSTEAM Buffet (Entering Grades 1st – 6th)(CLOSED)\n\nIt’s all hands on deck as campers enter the wondrous world of Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Arts and Math! This camp will be filled with explosive\, hands on STEAM experiments that cover each of the core areas of STEAM. Campers will have a variety of experiments to choose from each day and will be provided time and materials to dive deep into whatever interests them most. They can work in groups or alone but will experience and enjoy the magic of STEAM. This setting will allow each camper time to explore his/her own mind and examine whatever excites them most!\n \n\n3D Design/Print (Entering Grades 4th-8th) (CLOSED)\n                                                            \nStudents will learn the intricacies of 3D design and printing.  They will find and create models through various available software programs and then prepare the model for printing on a 3D printer by making design adjustments\, creating code and managing printer functions. Various project options will be offered and students will bring home a final project at the end of the week. Campers will also be provided with tips/tricks to use at home to continue the design portion of their learning after camp is over.\n\nFarm to Table: You Are What You Eat (Entering Grades 4th– 8th)(CLOSED)\nThis delicious trip into STEAM will cook up some chemistry\, melt into math and complete excellent edible engineering projects. Using farm to table foods\, campers will study various STEAM concepts related to healthy food! Campers will learn gardening techniques and will prepare healthy foods daily from fresh produce and make various foods from scratch! This is a fun\, interactive camp that engages children from start to finish. Note: Campers will be exposed to many different kinds of foods and food prep. Please do not register your child for this camp if he/she has food allergies that will be dangerous to participation.
