SUMMARY:Minecraft Education Online: Science Island & Renewable Energy
DESCRIPTION:Science Island (9:00am-12:00pm)\nAll Ages\n \n\nScience Island was designed to allow students of all ages to formulate\, test and modify a hypothesis before generating a rule which they believe true! AAALC's instructor will present challenges for participants to problem solve through Minecraft. Learn through play!\nFormulate a hypothesis Test a formulated hypothesis Modify a tested hypothesis Create a final truth statement to act as a hypothesis moving forward Conduct experiments in a virtual environment following directions Resetting an experiment and tidying up a lab atmosphere when completed Students will communicate observations with the group\nRenewable Energy (1:00pm-4:00pm)\nAges 8-13\n \n\nAAALC will use Minecraft to introduce students to alternative energy sources as they build homes that make use of renewable energy in different Minecraft biomes working through various challenges in the process.\nStudents will be able to articulate the difference between fossil fuels and renewable energy sources. Students will demonstrate knowledge of renewable energy sources. Students will be able to identify locations best suited for renewable energy usage. Students will be able to articulate the pros and cons of using renewable energy sources.
