DESCRIPTION:Oh the Places Youâll Go With STEAM In Tow!Â \n(Entering PreK/K)\n\nYoung scientists will be out on the loose as they explore the wild world of Dr. Seuss!\nScience\, technology\, engineering and math (STEM) will take campers down an incredible path.\nStack the catâs hat and engineer a zoo\, these STEM activities will stump just a few.\nApples\, butter\, green eggs and ham\; make and create them. They arenât just for Sam!\nYertle the Turtle\, Blue Fish and moreâ¦.you never know what lessons might be in store.\nTake a car\, bike or train\; or just come on two feet. You canât find this camp on Mulberry Street.\n\nRobotics/CodingÂ  (CLOSED)\n(Entering PreK/K-8th Grade)\n\nRobotics and coding are becoming critical parts of the lives of today's youth. Youth are being prepared for jobs that don't yet exist and need to be prepared to think\, create and inspire! Robotics builds science\, technology\, engineering and math skills\, providing students with real world experiences\, which provides practice critically thinking about problems and solutions while developing programming skills and team building. AAALC robotics programs begin as young as kindergarten and encourage students to continue through high school and beyond.\n\nRobotics is a program provided based on the age and skill of the campers. It uses Vex\, EV3 and Lego Education WeDoâ¢ materials to provideÂ lessons incorporating science\, technology\, engineering\, and math. Students work together in small groups to build and program various levels of robots. From building working models of alligators\, ferris wheels\, drumming monkeys and more to building and coding more complex creations.Â \n\nOnce programmed\, students use the model for different purposes\, experimenting with programming techniques. These educational opportunities encourage students to develop broader communication and language skills through cross curricular projects.\n\nPower Up Electricity! (CLOSED)\n(Entering 1st-8th Grade)\n\nHas your child every used Lilâ Bits? Do they know how to build circuits and create unique designs that âlight upâ the imagination? Can your camper engineer and provide light a home? Can your child repair broken toys and create a circuit game similar to Operation? Campers will invent\, design and experiment with energizing projects that challenge them to solve problems related to electricity\, building a variety of circuits\, applying physical principles and designing devices to solve real world problems.\n\nWoodworking\n(Entering 1st-8th Grade)\n\nThere is an additional cost to cover the extensive materials and supplies needed for each. Instruction and projects will be adjusted to the age and abilities of the campers.\n\nYoung carpenters will learn the various tools used in Woodworking\, from hand tools to power tools\, based on experience and proficiency. Campers will create a projectÂ from start to finish and may complete several projects. Guest craftsman mayÂ join our experienced instructor to share tips and tricks to developing skills that few today are learning.Â \n\nRUSH: Force & Motion\n(Entering 2nd-8th grade)\n\nAAALC and RUSH are teaming up to offer a one of a kind STEAM campÂ experience. Campers will spend a week at RUSH Trampoline Park in Jensen Beach exploring the science behind jumping\, flipping and parkour! Is your child familiar with Newtonâs Laws of Motion and how they are evident in the world around us? What is the difference between kinetic\, potential and thermal energy and why does it matter? Mornings willÂ be spent in classroom lessons on force\, motion\, energy and related Physical Science\, while the other portion of the day will be spent jumping\, experiencing and experimenting with what they have learned.Â Students will be provided with activities that allow them to observe\, record\, experiment and understand what forces are at work when objects move! Cost includes all jumps\, one pair of socksÂ and related course materials. (NOTE: This is an off site event from 9:00am-3:00pm. No Extended Day is available. Comfortable clothes suitable for jumping and physical activity should be worn. Campers will be dropped off and picked up by parentsÂ at RUSH in Jensen Beach. Lunch is available for purchase for $2.50-Pizza or Hot Dog and $5.00 Hamburger or Chicken Sandwich. Both options include a soda. RUSH issued socks must be worn each day. One pair of socks is included for the week. Lost socks can be replaced for a charge of $3.)\n\nImportant Notice: Camps fill up quickly. If registration options arenât open for specific selections\, then they are not available. Contact 341-1400 to be placed on a Waiting List. Cancellations requested more than two weeks prior to camp will incur a $35 cancellation fee. Cancellations within two weeks of camp may not be refunded unless there is a camper on the Waiting List. A $35 cancellation fee will still be applied. Extended Day is available by calling the office at 341-1400 to request to be placed on the list. There is an additional $5 charge for each day. Regular camp hours for students entering 1st-8th grade are from 9:00am-3:30pm with Extended Day services offered from 8:30am-5:15pm. PreK/K student hours differ slightly.
