SUMMARY:FIRST LEGO League Robotics Teams (Junior Discovery - Ages 3-5) (Junior - Ages 5-9) (FLL Robotics Ages 9-14)
DESCRIPTION:During the 2019/2020 Season\, FIRST participants will shape their cities with FLL Junior Discovery\, FLL Junior and FLL Lego League! \n\n\nFIRST LEGO League Junior Discovery Edition - Boomtown Build   (Ages 3-5)   \n(SIX WEEK SESSIONS with Expo)\n\nThis years First Lego League Jr Discovery challenge is called Boomtown Build! Teams of 4-6 children will learn how structures are built and explore some of the problems of designing buildings for different purposes\, that can be used for lots of different people. Teams will think and behave like architects and engineers\, developing their ability to work as a team\, observe\, answer questions\, gather information\, listen\, take turns\, share ideas\, collaborate and think critically. No experience is required!\n\n      \nFIRST LEGO League Junior       (Ages 5-9)\n(SIX WEEK SESSIONS with Expo)\n\nThis years First Lego League Junior challenge is Boomtown Build! Teams of 6-8 children will learn how structures are built and explore some of the problems of designing buildings for different purposes to be used for different people. Teams will think and behave like architects and engineers\, developing their ability to work as a team\, observe\, answer questions\, gather information\, solve problems\, collaborate and think critically and begin learning about concepts in robotics and engineering. No experience is required!\n\n      FIRST LEGO League (Ages 9-14) \n   (TWELVE WEEK SESSIONS with Competition)\n\nTomorrow’s innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Guided by two or more adult Coaches\, FIRST LEGO League* teams (up to 10 members\, ages 9-14) research a real-world problem related to buildings and structures within our communities. They must design\, build\, program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS®\, then compete on a table-top playing field.\n\nIt all adds up to tons of fun while they learn to apply science\, technology\, engineering\, and math concepts (STEAM)\, plus a big dose of imagination\, to solve a problem. Along their journey\, they develop critical thinking and team-building skills\, basic STEM applications\, and even presentation skills\, as they must present their solutions with a dash of creativity to judges. They also practice the Program’s Core Values\, which emphasize discovery\, teamwork and good sportsmanship.\n\nTeams will participate in a local competition in December and may advance to regional competitions from there.\n\n* An alliance between FIRST and the LEGO® Group    \n\nNote:  Student Groups\, Scout Troops or Civil Air Patrol Members may register as a group for FLL or JRFLL at a reduced rate. Each one must have a parent volunteer to assist with the team. Volunteer training\, support and supervision will be provided by AAALC teachers. When choosing this option\, troops must register under the appropriate tab and provide the contact person for the troop. AAALC will contact troops within 48 hours of registration for a complete list of team members.\n\nAAALC will provide FREE Trainings and information to anyone who would like to coach their own team. Training sessions require registration.
