Minecraft Education: Parkour (CLOSED)

\nScientific American declared\, "...not only is Minecraft immersive and creative\, but it is an excellent platform for making almost any subject area more engaging." Enter a world of rules\, parameters\, levels and goals that require hard work\, intense thinking\, teamwork and problem solving skills. AAALC uses this popular game to provide an academic setting for students. Campers will take a trip that carries them along a route with various obstacles and paths. Jumping\, climbing\, running and other methods of movement will be key to discovering the way out. This camp will be a week filled with science\, technology\, engineering and math skills with surprised along the way!
Wacky Weather
\n(Entering 1st-8th Grade)
Young meteorologists will have the opportunity to study the science behind different types of weather. As they travel through the seasons and study climates around the world\, campers will engineer weather binoculars\, observe the power of air pressure as they study Bernoulli’s principle\, make it snow in June and much more. This camp is filled with hands on science that will provide campers with a variety of experiences that take them through the scientific process.
\nBead Art &\; Woodworking
\n(Entering 2nd-8th grade)
Bead Art and Woodworking will each be offered for half the day\, with the opportunity to switch to another camp option the other half of the day. There is an additional cost to cover the extensive materials/supplies needed for each program. Instruction and projects will be adjusted to the age and abilities of the campers.
\nBead Art: AAALC is putting the Arts in STEAM this summer. Campers will be joined by a local bead artisan to learn the skills needed to create detailed masterpieces\, bringing beautiful creations as they learn the decorating techniques associated with each project. Learn the basics of wire art jewelry and other pieces through a variety of beginning wire wrap techniques such as traditional wire wrap\, jig work\, coiling\, texturizing metal and wire sculpture. \nThis camp has no wire wrapping or jewelry making prerequisites. All materials and supplies will be provided. Campers will bring home their art each day. Campers let their imaginations run wild as they put their skills to the test and learn the various ways art can feed the body and the mind!
\nWoodworking: Young carpenters will learn the various tools used in Woodworking\, from hand tools to power tools\, based on experience and proficiency. Campers will create a project from start to finish whether they are a beginner\, intermediate or advanced. Simple boxes\, sailboats\, checkerboards\, benches\, organizers\, chairs and more can be chosen for the final project. Guest craftsman will join our experienced instructor to share tips and tricks to developing skills that few today are learning.
