SUMMARY:July 23-27: Minecraft Education-World of Wonder\, DNA to Dissection & Power Up Electricity
DESCRIPTION:Minecraft Education: Waterworld\n(Entering 1st-8th Grade)\n\nScientific American declared\, "...not only is Minecraft immersive and creative\, but it is an excellent platform for making almost any subject area more engaging." Enter a world of rules\,  parameters\, levels and goals that require hard work\, intense thinking\, teamwork and problem solving skills.\n\nAAALC uses this popular game to provide an academic setting for students. Campers will take an amazing race around the globe to discover and recreate various famous places as they explore the world of Minecraft. They will travel through the week learning about environments\, systems and science! \n\nDNA to Dissection\n(Entering 1st-8th Grade)\n\nDo you know that you can pull the DNA out of a strawberry or banana or even a fertilized chicken egg? Do you know how to build a DNA strand that you can eat? Have you observed what’s inside different animals and what makes humans healthy? Future doctors\, or simply budding scientists who are insatiably curious\, will experience the wonder of humans\, plants and animals and discover what makes them tick! Hands on experiences\, virtual dissection and actual dissection will occur but will be age appropriate and will be taught in conjunction with a respect and admiration for nature\, animals and the world around us.\n\nPower Up Electricity!\n(Entering 1st-8th Grade)\n\nCampers will invent\, design and experiment with energizing projects all week! Each day campers will be challenged to solve problems related to electricity\, building a variety of circuits\, applying physical principles and designing devices to solve real world problems. Repairing broken toys and creating a circuit game similar to operation will provide campers with unique artistic experiences that integrate electricity. Campers will design and light up a house with teammates and complete STEAM challenges that will benefit them for years to come.
