SUMMARY:August 1-August 5: MakerSpace Madness\, Earth-Wind-Fire & Fairy Tale STEAM Camp
DESCRIPTION:MakerSpace Madness\nEntering Grades 1 – 7: Campers will be separated by grade level and complete age appropriate projects\n\n"It's open gym for the mind!" -AG    "You don't know what your child is capable of until you give them the freedom to make mistakes." -TM\nIs your child a maker\, creator\, thinker\, builder\, dreamer and everything in between? Campers will jump into AAALC’s amazing MakerSpace. From laser optics to architecture to engineering and more\, campers will receive daily tasks and challenges requiring each to design solutions with the same materials or tasks. Campers will investigate\, create and observe to understand that different solutions can be found to the same problems and failure is a step towards success!\n \n\nEarth\, Wind and Fire\nEntering Grades 1 – 7: Campers will be separated by grade level and complete age appropriate projects\n\nCampers will spend this week learning about the earth. They will use K’Nex to build various models\, to discover how wind and water work\, both individually and together\, to make renewable energy. Campers will study various biomes with each child choosing their own biome to plan and create a biodome. Understanding the science behind fires will fascinate campers as they meet a real firefighter and learn how fire is both beneficial and harmful to the earth. Hands on activities will promote team building and support science exploration and critical thinking.\n \n\nSTEAM Fairy Tales\nEntering Grades 1 - 5\n\nCampers will spend each day reading a fairy tale and working on STEAM related activities. For example\, The Frog Prince will take young biologists through a variety of frog related activities as they explore the life cycle of a frog\, measure distances\, create habitats\, understand amphibians and raise their very own tadpoles. Ladies and gentlemen\, this is "ribbiting" stuff! The Three Little Pigs will take young engineers through a variety of problems and solutions as they don hard hats to try different building materials\, creating solutions for our three friends. Students will meet a real live pig and understand the story elements of The Three Little Pigs while working through a variety of reading\, writing\, social studies\, math and science tasks. There is nothing "boaring" about these lessons!\n\nSTEAM Fairy Tales\nAges 5 – 7\n\nCampers will spend each day reading a fairy tale and working on STEAM related activities.
