SUMMARY:June 15 - June 19: Engineering/Design-Minecraft-Robotics-It's Alive!
DESCRIPTION:Camps can be taken for a half day or combined with another camp for a full day. Four camp offerings will be held each week and any combination of camps is acceptable. Full or half day camp requests can be chosen from the RSVP menu. Students attending full day should bring a healthy snack and lunch.\n \nREGISTRATION FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 15 IS CLOSED. ALL CAMPS HAVE MET CAPACITY. PLEASE CHECK SOME OF THE OTHER GREAT OFFERINGS.\n \n~~ENGINEERING AND DESIGN (CLOSED-CAMP IS FULL)\nE = mc2\nEngineering and Design Camp!\nAges 8-12 (Grades 3-6)\n \nEngineering for Kids is a week long camp designed to engage campers in electronics\, energy and design experiences. Campers will build and test electronics\, mini-robots and roller coasters. Teams will work through engineering challenges that increase STEM (Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, and Mathematical) experiences using the Elenco SNAP IT! electronics kits and household devices. E=mc2= Smart Fun! \n \nDue to popular demand this camp will be held twice and will be held during the weeks of June 15 and July 13.\n \n~~MINECRAFT EDUCATION-Basics of Motion (CLOSED-CAMP IS FULL)\nAges 8-13   \n\nMinecraft Education uses the popular game to provide an academic setting for students. Centering around themes\, each camp will provide students with the opportunity to utilize a variety of reading\, writing\, listening\, speaking\, technology\, social studies\, math and science skills to work together toward an objective or goal.\n               \nStudents will use three different tasks to calculate speed or components of speed. They will use the mechanics of the game to experience varying situations with moving objects\, solving problems and creating new challenges.\n \n\n~~IT'S ALIVE! (CLOSED-CAMP IS FULL)\nAges 6-11  \n\nLions and tigers and bears!  Not quite!  Students will work with live animals such as mice\, tarantulas\, crayfish\, snakes\, hedgehogs\, ferrets and more to learn critical reading skills and science processes.  Students will be actively touching and handling the animals. Activities will immerse students in hands-on learning while providing reading\, writing\, math\, science\, social studies\, speaking and listening activities. Due to the popularity of this camp\, it will be offered twice.\n \n~~ROBOTICS (CLOSED-CAMP IS FULL)\nAges 8-12\n\nRobotics build science\, technology\, engineering and math skills and provides students with real world experiences\, allowing them to critically think about problems and solutions while developing programming skills and team building. AAALC robotics programs begin as young as kindergarten and encourage students to continue through high school and beyond.\n\nIntermediate Robotics is for students who are beginning to learn robotics and programming language. Students build and design a more complex robot\, learning advanced designing and programming techniques.\nAdvanced Robotics is for students who have some robotics training\, former FLL competitors and students with considerable Mindstorm experience.  The students develop a task or tasks\, then design a robot from the ground up to accomplish the objective. This program will foster future interest in First Lego League. http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/fll/\n \n\n\nÂ
