SUMMARY:First LEGO League Robotics
DESCRIPTION:Join AAALC for FIRST LEGO League\, \nJunior Discovery\, Junior Explore and Challenge Teams! \n\nCourse Location: 43 SW Monterey Road in Stuart\n\nAs a FIRST LEGO Robotics affiliate\, AAALC offers club options throughout the year. Additionally\, partnerships with local nonprofits that bring LEGO to young parents and students are a priority. \n\nLEGO Robotics\n\nPreschool\, Elementary & Middle\n\nThursday September 14\, 21\, 28 October 5\, 12\, 19\, 26\n\n2:30pm-3:30pm  Ages 4-5   Discover                          $99  (CLOSED)\n3:30pm-4:45pm  Ages 6-9   Explore                            $149                    \n5:00pm-6:30pm  Ages 9-14 Challenge                        $159                          \n\nFIRST LEGO is an exploration-based program where children use LEGO to complete engineering and design challenges that encourage team building\, collaborative learning and problem-solving. Younger teams will display work in an expo format while older teams may have the opportunity to compete pending plans related to local competitions. Teams will be formed by age/grade groups and will meet Thursdays during times specified above. This program is offered subject to minimum registration. \n\nFIRST LEGO League Junior Discovery Edition - "Duplo Engineering STEAM Park"   (Ages 4-6) \n\nThe First LEGO League Junior Discovery challenge centers around Parks and Recreation! Teams of 4 - 6 children will learn how to solve problems related to playgrounds\, parks and engineering. Teams will think and behave like architects and engineers\, developing their ability to work as a team\, observe\, answer questions\, gather information\, listen\, take turns\, share ideas\, collaborate and think critically. No experience is required!\n\n      FIRST LEGO League Junior Explore  "Masterpiece"   (Ages 5-9)\n\nThe First LEGO League Junior challenge is Masterpiece! Teams of 6 - 8 children will put the Art in STEAM. Teams will think and behave like artists\, creating new ways to "think and communicate across the globe". They will expand their ability to design and engineer\, developing their ability to work as a team\, observe\, answer questions\, gather information\, solve problems\, collaborate and think critically. No experience is required!\n\n    FIRST LEGO League Challenge  "Masterpiece"   (Ages 9-14) \n\nTomorrow’s innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Guided by two or more adult Coaches\, FIRST LEGO League* teams (up to 10 members\, ages 9-14) research a real-world problem related to sports. They must design\, build\, program a robot using LEGO SPIKE PRIME®\, then compete on a table-top playing field.\n\nIt all adds up to tons of fun while they learn to apply science\, technology\, engineering\, and math concepts (STEAM)\, plus a big dose of imagination\, to solve a problem. Along their journey\, they develop critical thinking and team-building skills\, basic STEM applications\, and even presentation skills\, as they must present their solutions with a dash of creativity to judges. They also practice the Program’s Core Values\, which emphasize discovery\, teamwork and good sportsmanship.\n\nThis year's challenge is Masterpiece! No experience is required!\n\nIf you are interested in creating your own team and requesting an AAALC staff member mentor/coach the group\, please contact the office directly at 341-1400.\n\n* An alliance between FIRST and the LEGO® Group   Â
